Feelin’ Lucky?
It’s been way too long since I had a giveaway….so here goes: This is a fun giveaway for you art lovers out there. The prize is an original 5×7 acrylic and pastel painting done by me. The back is covered in sweet decorative paper, and the canvas is signed by yours truly. The painting comes with a black easel and looks cute sitting on a side table, nightstand, or bookshelf. I have little bits of art everywhere…..even in the bathroom! Art is good for the soul, so I say place it everywhere!
To enter a chance to win “Greenhouse Goodies” all you have to do is answer one easy question! The question is: If you could have a three hour lunch with anyone on the planet, who would it be? Feel free to add your food choice too…or not. To make it even more interesting, the person you choose can be from the past or present. If your idea of an awesome lunch would be sushi with Albert Einstein….jot it down! Send me your answer in the comment box at the bottom of this post or feel free to e-mail me at deluzcindy@yahoo.com. I will put your name and e-mail address in the magic yellow pail, and the winner’s name will be drawn on Thursday! Good Luck!
For the record…my choice would of course be Michael J. Fox. We would eat beer and pizza at a neighborhood joint. Of course I can’t eat this type of food anymore …..but hey, it’s my dream! For those of you who don’t know, MJF is my hero…I even named my beloved pup after him! I would love to thank Mike in person for putting a voice to Parkinson’s Disease. He inspires me to keep smiling and be the best that I can be…Thanks Mike!
Pedaling For Parkinson’s!
April is Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month and I came up with a fun way raise money and have fun at the same time. For those of you who don’t know, one of my best friends is named Petal. She is a beach cruiser bicycle that my hubby bought me last year. I hand painted her with flowers and positive words, hence the name “Petal” (Pedal). Here are a couple shots of my BFF.
A couple of weeks ago I contacted the owner of Robby Bicycles in Stockton, CA. http://robbysbicycles.com/Site/Home.html
I asked Danny Morris (the owner and my new hero) if he’d be interested in donating a bicycle that I could custom paint and then raffle off for Parkinson’s research. He enthusiastically said yes, and I was thrilled beyond words!
Yesterday I was able to pick up the bike and was so excited to see what a beauty she is! “Starshine” (the bicycle’s new name) is a fresh looking white Beach Cruiser, who exudes cool! I started to sketch images on the fenders last night with a black Sharpie, and then I will fill in with paint. I decided to do a 70′s…”Love is all we need”….. theme.
I’ll be providing more info on how to purchase raffle tickets ($2.00 each), as soon as I finish painting her. I will set up a page on my website where tickets can be purchased. More details coming soon!
In the meantime, I thought you might enjoy seeing the beginning phase of Starshine’s transformation. Stay tuned, more to follow.
The profits raised from ticket sales will be lovingly donated to two amazing places who are working hard to improve the lives of people suffering with Parkinson’s Disease. I feel blessed to have these folks on my team! The Parkinson’s Institute www.thepi.org and The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation www.pdf.org
Here Comes The Sun
After experiencing so many wet and soggy days in a row, the warm sun was truly a welcome sight. I love when winter begins to melt into Spring and the feeling of renewal fills my heart. Sixteen years ago, while pregnant with Emma, I felt at one with nature. During that time I was in love with bulbs, seedlings, and anything to do with gardening. I had an unmistakable sense of spiritual power knowing I was creating a human being inside of my own body. Truly an amazing once-in-a-lifetime feeling I will never forget.
Last night Terry, Emma, and I planted flowers in our backyard. It warmed my heart to have my girl and my hubby right next to me digging in the soil. Here are some shots of our handy work:
